CNC Turning

CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Machining is a means to remove material using high speed, precision machines that use a wide variety of cutting tools to create the final design, including vertical milling machines, horizontal milling machines, lathes, and lathes with live tooling. CNC turning is a process that uses a lathe where the part stock rotates while the cutting tools remain stationary. On a multi-axis CNC milling machine, the cutting tools move while the stock remains fixed. CNC turning with a live tooling lathe combines the capabilities of both CNC lathes and mills to dramatically decrease lead times and increase the amount of features that can be machined. While multi-axis and right angle mills can rapidly create complex geometric shapes, more complex cylindrical shapes can be more cost effectively manufactured using CNC turning with a live tooling lathe.
