All molds are machined and then ground, bead blasted or polished depending on the requirements. The Society of the Plastics Industry has produced a set of standard mold finishes to allow the customer to order exactly the desired finish from the molder.

Unless otherwise specified, an injection molded part will have an “as-machined” surface finish. However, most injection molds require additional processing to achieve a desired surface finish or texture.
